“Water is the essence of life. The World Water Day 2013 is held at a time when the world is grappling with the ever-growing demands of its inhabitants and there is increasing focus on sustainable use of its resources and built environment. As declared by United Nations, the year 2013 is the ‘International Year of Water Co-operation’ to raise awareness on increased cooperation and the challenges facing water management. We express our sincere appreciation of the National Water Supply & Drainage Board and Ministry of Water Supply & Drainage of Sri Lanka for their continuous support and guidance extended to us in the construction of major water supply schemes. At a resurgent time in Sri Lanka’s history, we are excited to be an active partner in enabling Sri Lanka’s 2020 vision of providing 60% piped water coverage across Sri Lanka. We wish that World Water Day 2013 Celebrations will be successful in reinforcing the message of equitable provision and preservation of water across the globe.” commented M.G. Kularatne, Chairman of Maga Engineering.
During the last 5 years, Maga has played a prominent role in the water supply sector of the country. This has notably included the National Construction Award‐winning Greater Kandy Water Supply Project (Stage II), a landmark project in the Sri Lankan construction sector, as one of the largest water supply schemes executed by a Sri Lankan construction firm.
