Part of the Jaffna Teaching Hospital, the leading hospital in the Northern Province, this 3 storey hospital complex contains ultra-modern facilities such as an operating theater complex, intensive care units, a central laboratory complex and central facilities for diagnostic imaging. The construction of the hospitals started just after the end of the civil war, and despite a dearth in material and human resources in the area, the committed project team ensured the timely delivery of the project under the guidance of the Main Contractor of the project Wakachiku-Sato Joint Venture of Japan.
Financed by Japan International Corporation Agency (JICA), the project was ceremoniously declared open in February 2013, adding much needed healthcare facilities to the Jaffna peninsula.
